Do You Live in a Fat State?

Check out CNN's study of obesity in the US from 1984 to 2004... Which state are you?
http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2007/fit.nation/obesity.map/

All I can say is two factors contribute to this:

1) the processed food craze (fast foods and instant dishes)... that, we all know already...
and
2) our middle-class obsession with doing things easier and faster by using gadgets - instead of manual labor like our ancestors did - are simply making us fatter.

take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator
walk & bike instead of drive
stir by hand instead of using a mixer
chop instead of using an auto-chopper
scrub the floor instead of mopping
brush ur teeth instead of using electronic brushes
cook instead of microwaving
wash dishes by hand instead of using the dishwasher
air dry your laundry instead of using the dryer
garden instead of shopping
read instead of watching tv (yes, turning pages is better exercise than pressing the remote!)
if you gotta drive, then drive a stick shift instead of an auto

can you think of more?????

Our Flamingo Time at NSAD!

FRIDAY AUGUST 10th:

First game: 18 - 4 v. Milwaukee
(one game break in between)

Second game: 5 - 14 v. Midwest
(one game break in between)

Third game: 20 - 9 v. Texas Girlz
(one game break in between)

Fourth game: 20 - 5 v. Rochester*
*game stopped early due to 15 run rule
(no break)

Fifth game: 0 - 5 v. Chicago

Chicago went on to the championship game and lost to EDT, 6 - 13...
(Tidbit: we lost to EDT twice by just the score of 1 - 4 during regionals)
And Midwest went on to place third.

Because of how the brackets work, we placed 5th even though we could have gave Keep Texas Weird (who placed 5th as well, and lost to Chicago, 35 - 1) a nice spanking for 4th, we weren't able to play them. Next year, we will ;) There were a total of 11 women's teams.

Yes, we played 5 games on Friday alone. If we had a night's sleep before playing Chicago the next morning, many of us (with less than 4 hours of sleep) felt we could have won. Lesson learned: Sleep like a baby the night before the tournament :)
